Does Siniat offer MF Ceiling solutions for swimming pool applications?
Siniat do not have a complete ceiling system for use in swimming pool environments.
Swimming pools can produce high humidity, splashing water and corrosive atmospheres caused by treatment chemicals and water vapour. Large temperature fluctuation also makes these environments difficult to specify correctly.
Two options exist for specification of metal framing used in drywall systems, to use corrosion classifications classes from the steel standards (EN ISO 12944), or guidance from Sport England:
“Where studwork is unavoidable, ensure all framework is of a galvanised steel (not timber), further coated in severe locations and select wall boards suitable for constant wetting without deformation, absorption or degradation” (Sport England - Swimming Pools Updated guidance for 2013)
In the case of ceilings, the risk of catastrophic collapse is such that the corrosion classification approach is recommended by Siniat.
Siniat MF framing components do not meet this standard.
Designers/installers will need to source a 3rd party ceiling grid which has a corrosion class of C4 or higher (EN ISO 12944) and satisfy themselves that the solution is fit for purpose.
Siniat Aquaboard with associated wet area fixings and finishing products are suitable to be used with a 3rd party grid assuming the boards can be fixed inline with standard guidance.
