What is Fire Classification?

What is the purpose of a fire classification report?

When a fire test on a system is carried out, a test report is issued containing complex raw data. As defined in Approved Document B, the system is then required to be 3rd party classified to EN 13501-2.

A classification report is a uniform and standardised structure to express the fire performance of products and systems which can be easily understood by non-experts.

What does a Fire Classification report contain?

  • The original Test Build-up
  • Raw test result
  • Overall classification
  • Field of application Summaries (DIAP or EXAP)
