How can I combine an intumescent painted steel with boarded encasement system to provide steel protection?

Situations will occur where the fire protection system needs to change from one type to another on a single beam for example.

Such junctions are unlikely to be tested therefore there is a grey area in regard to liability. Siniat do not have test data on a junction where a single beam is fire protected with two different systems.

Wherever possible the fire protection system should be maintained fully for an element but where this unavoidable you will need to liaise with a Fire Engineer to review the detail and the independent system data to approve a solution.

Further guidance can be found on the ASFP website (Association for Specialist Fire Protection) with their document "Technical Guidance Document 8 which is their Code of practice for junctions between different fire protection systems when applied to load bearing structural steel elements.

nd cap off into the web of the beam.
