How can you finish PROMATECT®-XS?
Guidance on plastering, jointing, and finishing methods for PROMATECT®‑XS encasements and abutments
Plastering:
When applying a skim plaster finish to Promatect-XS first pre-treat with a bonding agent which includes an aggregate (grit). The bonding agent should be thoroughly mixed and applied neat with a brush or roller. Bonding agents are coloured and so clearly visible and usually require one coat to appropriately cover the substrate. The Bonding agent should be left do dry usually for 1-48 hours depending on the chosen bonding agent drying time and ambient conditions. Follow bonding agent manufacturers guidance for preparing the surface, application and drying time.
Micro-Gobetis 300 is one example of a bonding agent. These types of bonding agents are suitable for high and low suction substrates to prepare for plastering.
For the application of the skim finishing coat follow all other guidance from the skim manufacturer.
Siniat Joint Compounds:
Siniat Joint Filler and Siniat Joint Cement can be used to complete a 3 stage tape and jointing process with Siniat Paper Tape for board joints, internal corners and Siniat Flex Tape for external corners. Finish with Siniat Universal Sealer.
For Moisture environments and where Promatect-XS abuts Siniat Aqua Board use Siniat Aquamix for the taping and jointing process and finish with Siniat Drywall Sealer.
