There are a number of suitable fixings which can be used to hang things onto plasterboard walls. 

These fixings have a greater pull-out resistance, allowing for greater confidence in hanging shelves, pictures and other fixtures.

For large and/or heavy items, it is recommended to provide local reinforcement to the partition with a pattress or timber nogging, where permitted, to support services.
