Why do I need to use flat straps on partition joints?
Guidance on the use of flat straps at horizontal plasterboard joints
Where partition height exceeds the board height, horizontal board joints are required. In these situations, Siniat Flat Straps must be installed behind the horizontal joint in accordance with the relevant Siniat partition detail.
Flat straps provide a substrate behind the horizontal board joint, allowing the board edges to be securely fixed at the required maximum 300mm fixing centres.
The type of flat strap used depends on the partition construction:
| Application | Flat Strap Requirement |
|---|---|
| Single layer boarding | Siniat Flat Strap FS90/W installed behind all horizontal joints |
| Double or multiple layer boarding | Siniat Flat Strap FS50/RX installed behind horizontal joints between the inner and outer board layers |
For the correct flat strap detailing and fixing requirements, refer to the relevant details within the Siniat Drywall Manual - Partitions.
