How Are Siniat Internal Plasterboards Classified For Reaction To Fire?

Understand how BS EN 520 is used to determin reaction to fire of Siniat Plasterboards

Most Siniat Plasterboards are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 520:2004+A1:2009. Table B.1 provides guidance on how plasterboards manufactured with this standard can have their Reaction to Fire (R2F) classified without further testing (CWFT), i.e. boards do not require third party reaction to fire testing.

Siniat also have some plasterboards which are not manufactured under BS EN 520:2004+A1:2009, such as Siniat Thermal Boards, Siniat Vapour Board, Siniat Weather Defence and Siniat Aqua Board. As these do not have access to the route of classification without further testing (CWFT) we test and classify these products through a 3rd party UKAS accredited laboratory and the classification is available to view on our website by logging into MySiniat.

Table B.1 sets requirement on nominal board thickness, board density and paper grammage which allows the reaction to fire of a gypsum plasterboard classification can be determined.

For example, 12.5mm Siniat Standard Board conforms to EN 520. The board density is nominal 632kg/m3 with an A1 core. Paper grammage is below 220g/m2 and the substrate would be metal studs. This results in a classification of A2-s1, d0.
