Siniat Weather Defence Board is a type GM-F board, how does this differ from a type F board?
Understanding the difference between GM-F and F type boards.
Siniat Internal gypsum plasterboards are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 520, which outlines plasterboard type based on performance characteristics such as fire resistance, durability, and suitability for different applications. BS EN 520 outlines board type for plasterboards used in internal environments, ensuring they meet essential structural and safety requirements.
Gypsum sheathing boards, such as Siniat Weather Defence Board, are produced in compliance with BS EN 15283-1. This standard adopts the same definitions, testing methodologies, and requirements from BS EN 520, but is specifically tailored for exterior applications.
The Siniat Weather Defence Board is designated as type GM-F under BS EN 15283-1. Importantly, type GM-F is functionally equivalent to type F as defined in BS EN 520.
Both Type F Board to EN 520 and Type GM-F Board to EN 15283-1 contain mineral fibres and/or additives in the gypsum core to improve cohesion at high temperatures.
