How should Siniat Weather Defence board joints be treated when used in Thruwall systems?
There are two ways in which the board to board joints in Siniat Weather Defence can be treated as part of the Siniat Thruwall system. Which method is used is dependant on the performance the element is required to achieve.
Siniat Weather Defence™ Joint Tape may be used where no fire resistance or acoustic performance is required. This is to achieve the weather seal and aid air tightness only.
Siniat Fire Rated Silicone Sealant provides a robust weather seal as they allow two boards to be squeezed together which limits the opportunity for water and air leakages and maintains fire resistance of the element. The Sealant must be applied as the boarding progresses, along the previous fixed board edge to installation of the next board. Sufficient sealant must be applied resulting in a 2mm sealant filled joint between successive boards.
Full details can be found in the installation section of the Siniat Weather Defence brochure.
