What is the yield strength of Siniat light gauge metal components?
Understanding why Siniat light-gauge metal has an NPD yield-strength declaration
Siniat light‑gauge metal sections are manufactured from steel grade DX51D to EN 10346, a low‑carbon steel intended for cold‑formed, non‑structural components. EN 10346 and EN 14195 recognise DX51D with a relatively low minimum proof strength, typically from around 140 MPa upwards.
EN 14195 allows the manufacturer to declare NPD for yield strength on non‑loadbearing framing components. For this reason, Siniat’s Declarations of Performance for light gauge metals do not quote a single design yield strength (fy) value. Our published maximum heights and system performances are instead based on full system testing and assessment of complete Siniat wall and ceiling systems, rather than on any single nominal yield strength figure.
