What do I need to do to achieve fire protection to structural steel beams/columns?
Etex provides a few options to fire protect structural steel beams and columns via the Promat brand. In order to provide a suitable system, knowledge of the fire protection period and the size of the steel are required.
The size of the steel is used to calculate the Hp/A (A/V), which is the heated perimeter divided by the cross sectional area. It is known as the section factor. The section factor is then read off a table to determine the correct level of protection. There is a table for each material type and also protection levels (temperature).
The Siniat framed encasement system is in the process of being discontinued which utislised the clip system and Siniat Fireboard.
Promat have a number of products to protect structural steel without a frame which saves time and space of install and can be consulted separately for specific details of those systems.
One such solution is Promatect XS for use on 60minute fire protection systems :

Promat have other boards to cover higher fire protection periods.
