What is the minimum depth to allow for the installation of a Siniat Metal Frame suspended ceiling system?
The minimum drop of the MF ceiling grid must allow for the installation of the grid components. The Primary channel is 44mm deep, ceiling channel 25mm deep. You will also need to factor in the hanger which needs enough space to comfortably and safely install. This will result in an overall depth of around 100mm. Depending on specification you may n
-
What load can a Siniat Metal frame suspended ceiling system take?
The standard grid installation for the MF ceiling system is based on 1200mm x 1200mm x 400mm relating to the installation centres of the hangers, primaries and ceiling components. This grid is capable of supporting 35kg/m2 including self weight. Should you need to support a greater weight, the centres of the primary channels can be reduced, thus inc

Does Siniat sell skim plaster?
No. Siniat does not manufacture skim plaster. However, third party skim plaster can be used on our boards as an alternative to taping and jointing. Refer to skim manufacturer's guidance for application details.
-
Do I need to use a moisture resistant plasterboard if I am applying a full height tiled finish?
Siniat recommend the use of a Moisture resistant plasterboard in areas of high humidity like bathrooms for example. The final finish will be the first line of defence against moisture, but over time water can soak through grout if not sealed adequately. A moisture resistant board will give further defence to temporary exposure. Siniat supplies Mois

When should I use the MFCCLIP Connecting Clip to secure the Ceiling Channel to the Primary Channel and when should I screw fix the two components together?
Siniat Connecting Clips (MFCCLIP) may only be used to connect Siniat Ceiling Channel to Primary Channel when only a single layer of plasterboard is fixed to the grid with no additional loadings. For double layer systems use 12mm Siniat Wafer Head Self Drilling Screws. Two fixings must be used each side of the ceiling channel into the primary chann
-
Are noggings required with a timber ceiling?
For the purpose of fixing Siniat Plasterboard direct to the underside of a timber ceiling, there are two scenarios which will dictate the need for noggings. In cold state - where the ceiling/floor element is not required to have a fire resistant period the following recommmendations can be followed: In hot state - where the ceiling is required to

How far can the MF ceiling channel cantilever from hanging point when the perimeter is not fixed?
The maximum cantilever that the Siniat MF Ceiling Channel or Siniat Primary channel can have from the last hanger point, where the Siniat Edge Channel is not fixed is 150mm for non fire rated ceilings.
-
What type of Moisture Board do I need to use in Bathroom environments, H1 or H2?
The use of moisture board in bathroom areas, the requirement for moisture board use in bathroom locations is set out as a recommendation in BS 8212 : Code of practice for dry lining and partitioning using gypsum plasterboard, which states ‘’ where the wallboard is to be exposed for short periods to humidity or moisture, for example in Kitchens and B

Which Insulation manufacturer should I use in Siniat systems?
Siniat do not recommend any particular provider of insulation. Where glass wool insulation is shown in the cavity of a partition for acoustic purposes only, then it is the thickness of the product that is relevant to meet the acoustic performance. Densities will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but are typically in the 10kg/m3 to 25kg/m3 range
-
What does (Rw) and (Dntw) mean when acoustic performance is mentioned?
Acoustic performance is not just a number of decibels. Depending on the terminology quoted after the dB value, the meaning will be different. dB (Rw) - this is the weighted sound reduction index derived from a lab test of a particular building element. The higher this value, the better the performance. dB (DnTw) - This is the onsite tested performa
-
What guidance is there for fire stopping pipe penetrations?
To suitably fire stop pipe penetrations through Siniat systems, the recommendation is that these must be in line with guidance in the latest revisions of Approved Document Part B (Section 9) of the Building Regulations and with the fire stopping manufacturers tested system. Within Approved Document B (2019 edition with amendments up to 2022), the r

What is the weight limit on the Siniat acoustic hangers?
Siniat have two acoustic hangers: Phonissimo - this has a maximum load of 50kg Phonistar - this has a maximum load of 120kg The load applied to each hanger can be determined with knowledge of the ceiling build up and hanger centres and can be modified to ensure the max weight is not exceeded.
